a schmupdate {aka, a small update}

Not much new to report here. The walls still aren't painted. The lampshade is not in my home {yet, let's hope!}.

We currently have 5 different color options painted on the large wall. Crappy pic, but you get the idea (two were painted twice to see how they would look against the off-white).

{The unfinished wood will be painted white.}

A funny thing happened though, we bought a gallon of {what we thought was} the off-white to paint the {formerly} red wall. We painted the whole wall...

then we realized it wasn't the right color. FAIL!

It was, in fact, the color that is on the walls in the office. So, if we ever need to touch up those walls in the future, we have a whole gallon of paint! Presently, our {formerly} red wall still doesn't match the rest of the house.

On a better note, we did go buy the CORRECT off-white, but have been too lazy to fix the wall yet :) Maybe this weekend?

Happy ALMOST Wednesday!

a sidenote.

Because that's where my brain is.

I want to show you all this beauty...

{This} TV stand is one of the first projects I tackled and shared on this blog, but after a while, it just didn't cut it for our large TV. With the idea that a new house needs new {old} things, we went out on a search for a new {old} TV stand. Actually, I went out on the search, found it and brought Tyler to see it.

Only, *it* wasn't what I have pictured above. We went to St. Vinnies, purchased a much less pretty version. I was fine with it, was going to take it home and paint it, until we were wheeling it out on the dolly and they unloaded the above beauty. Fresh off the truck, and I wanted it!

So after a little finagling {I love that word!} we took it home instead!

What do you think? Oh, and it will be up against the wall we have yet to paint {he who shall not be named? haha}.

It's almost Friday!

i love lamp.

It all started with a lampshade.
This one, specifically.

It's more turquoise/teal in person. It makes me want to decorate the whole living room around it! And since we are trying to decide what color to paint the {formerly} brown wall, here is some eye candy. Thoughts? Tomorrow, I'll show you what Tyler wants :)

our home

Thats right folks. OUR home. We are HOMEOWNERS!!

I know its been quite a while since I last blogged, but I hope to write more often, as I now have something very exciting to write about! Tyler and I bought a house! We got the keys last week, packed up our rental over the weekend and moved in!

Holy moly am I excited! I am just imagining all the fun projects I can do to/in this house! We already finished part of the one main thing we wanted to change in the house {Ms. Impatient here}. See, when we bought the house, the large, open, one-window living room had one wall painted dark red, and another painted dark brown. With brown carpet. It didn't look horrible, but it wasn't doing anything for the light in the room. We fixed that problem right away! So far we have primed both walls, will be painting the {formerly} red wall the same off white as the other walls, and painting the {formerly} brown wall....well, we don't know what color yet! That is our current debate. I'll show some pictures tomorrow of what I'm thinking. And for now, I'll leave you with a {camera phone} picture of part way through priming :)

Happy Tuesday!

Photo Friday

On Thursday.

First a quick note, sorry for my absence! I just honestly haven't felt like writing, but I sure have been reading your blogs! I have been quite busy, even if I haven't been writing about it.

Remember her?

Here she is now {after a good sanding, coat of white, a smothering of walnut stain, and a couple coats of glossy brown on top to cover the...formica!}

I jumped on the burlap bandwagon

And made this pretty wreath.

AND I snagged some cute, cheap ceramic {?} apples!

{I promise they are red apples. You just have to believe me, because I'm in a black and white photo mood}

More projects to come soon! They are in the garage drying now.

By the way, I have to add this:

*I LOVE MY DUCKS*

{they are awesomely kicking UCLA's rear-end as I type this!}
