Photo Friday

On Thursday.

First a quick note, sorry for my absence! I just honestly haven't felt like writing, but I sure have been reading your blogs! I have been quite busy, even if I haven't been writing about it.

Remember her?

Here she is now {after a good sanding, coat of white, a smothering of walnut stain, and a couple coats of glossy brown on top to cover the...formica!}

I jumped on the burlap bandwagon

And made this pretty wreath.

AND I snagged some cute, cheap ceramic {?} apples!

{I promise they are red apples. You just have to believe me, because I'm in a black and white photo mood}

More projects to come soon! They are in the garage drying now.

By the way, I have to add this:

*I LOVE MY DUCKS*

{they are awesomely kicking UCLA's rear-end as I type this!}

Hi, my name is Jasmine...

...and I have a problem. I'm addicted to buying furniture (when it's a good deal!).

I went out thrifting today, stopped by a new antique store downtown, and was good. I didn't buy anything (there...).

Then I ventured over to St. Vinnies, because they have TONS of furniture, and have had some good sales lately. It must have been my lucky day because when I drove up I saw a huge "75%off"sale sign! Long story short, I found some chairs that were calling my name, and of course I stopped by the Goodwill by my house, and found a dresser that I HAD to have. Nevermind I don't actually NEED this stuff, I couldn't pass up the possibilities these items would bring in terms of re-doing them!

{Todays finds. Please excuse the dirty garage}

{It's all in the details}

{Closer view. Needs a little love, but oh the possibilities!}

{Oh and I brought this mirror home with me too :) Stay tuned for updates on this one soon, it's already in the works!}

Do you forgive me for indulging in my addiction? ;)

Manic Monday...but it's done!

Happy Monday :) It's been a typical Monday for me, so here is a little something for you...

I've done it. Finally finished the TV stand!

I have been wishing for something like this forever...

I first stumbled upon this amazing TV stand over at Miss Mustard Seed's blog, the piece was made by Karli at Rocky Bella. I searched for something similar to paint and this is what I found (the bottom of a hutch, for a $teal!)

After sanding and priming, the initial plan was to paint it with my fav, Rustoleum's Heirloom White. That changed after painting the top in that color, and realizing it may melt into the background of my off white walls...so, back to Karli's TV stand I thought, and back to Home Depot I went, in search of a pretty olive (or in this case, oregano) green.

I L.O.V.E. the way it turned out!

Do you notice something missing from the original photo? Yep. We (and by we, I mean Tyler) used a sawzall to cut out the middle panel (the outer panels open). Our cable box wouldn't fit in without cutting that panel out and I like how it looks now!

These wonderful (sarcastically speaking) pictures were taken specially by my cell phone. I haven't been able to find the camera cord since we moved!

Moving!

That's right, I'm getting out of this apartment and moving into a house! The bf and I, plus one of the bf's friends, are moving into a house at the end of the month! Lets just say, I am so excited I have practically already started packing. One of the best things is that it has a fully fenced backyard - Mosley has never had a backyard to run around in! Ok, and I can't say I'm not fully excited for all the decorating! Once we get moved in, maybe I'll share some pictures :)

Do you have any exciting events happening this summer?

Drowning in knobs!!

Have you ever noticed if you look at a word enough times it starts to look wrong? That's how I currently feel about the word knob.

I realized that I still need to get knobs for the desk/hutch that I painted here! Silly me. Off I went searching (online) for the perfect knobs. I never really thought about how.many.different. kinds of knobs there are! I found quite a few on Home Depot's website that I like...take a look and let me know what you think! I'll definitely paint the knobs if they come in a gold color.

What do you think? Or is there a better place to find knobs?

Something Old is New

While over at my grandmas house for our weekly dinner date last week, I asked her about the photograph below. It had been sitting in her laundry room for a while, and she said I could have it if I wanted (of course I did!). In it (somewhere) is my grandpa's uncle. I might be a little crazy, but I am so excited my grandma gave this to me! It means a lot to have something from my grandpa's life since he just passed away last year. At the bottom it reads:

93rd Aero Squadron. 1919
"Just back from France"

I think I'm starting to love collecting more and more old things, I love wondering where they came from and what kind of stories they tell.

{you may notice some changes around my blog lately/in coming days, no worries, I'm just being indecisive about how I'd like it to look}
**EDITED 05/27/10**
After a little digging, I found out more information about the picture. Ok, it was more like I googled the title of the photo and found this site right away. It is amazing that there is a whole website about the 93rd Aero Squadron, with names, photos, and stories. I even found my grandpa's uncle after I realized his name was on the back of the photo I have. It's Robert Goetz, who, I found from the website, was a cook in the 93rd Aero Squadron.
Have you found out any stories behind old items you have?
(PS...I think I'm getting closer to getting my blog how I want it to look!)

It's about time

Ok guys, here it is, finally! This is how my dresser (desk/hutch?) started out. I got it for dirt cheap and it very sturdy! As you can see, it was green, and very scratched up!

And....here it is after! This is after lots of sanding and a couple of coats of Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch in Heirloom White (my new love). It's not quite finished, I'd like to distress it more and then wipe it down with a dark stain, but I love it for now!

Hope you are all having a wonderful spring! I know I'm enjoying this sunshine :)

Rain Rain, Go Away

It's been raining a lot (no surprise living here in the Pacific NW), but I am daydreaming of summer. Here are a few pretties to feast your eyes on if you want to daydream too :)

Ahh I love all the frilly girly-ness (yes, I know that's not a word :)) of the dresses.

What do you love right now?
