Holiday Cheer

Ok so it's been a while (it always is), but I got an iPhone so blogging *should* be easier. Famous last words.

Back to the theme for today: our house's holiday cheer :)

Happy holidays everyone!

{christmas mantle. can you see the duck cheer there?}

{this may be the door from the hutch below...it works as a frame!}

{have I shown this one yet? a steal of a hutch I refinished}

{teal & red xmas}

{here she is in full}

{I may or may not be obsessed with Instagram}

{full mantle. it's a work in progress}

{simba posing}

Sorry for the photos being out of order. This was my first post from my phone and I can't quite figure it all out yet :)

follow the leader

I stumbled upon the beauty that is Pinterest. I'm still figuring it out, but I like what I see.

{go there now}

On another note, I feel like owning our own home just makes me want to do so many projects! It gets overwhelming and I want to add another one to the mix. I want to redo our laundry room, which will hopefully get some new pretties {see, new washer and dryer!} soon. A girl can dream, right? Here is a pic of how it is now. A little blah.

{just imagine an old, but functional washer and dryer under the cabinets}

Here is some visual candy of what I hope it will look like {sometime} soon.

This one {below} is my fav. It seriously looks like an updated, way prettier, version of our space!

Do you find yourself jumping around between projects? I think I just get new inspirations and have to jump on them!

the garage sale gods...

...they have been good to me.

Or maybe, Tyler's mom found a super sweet estate sale 4th of July weekend and took me to it, twice. :)

I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday! I know this is a little late. We spent the long weekend with Tyler's parents in Coos Bay. I love the beach. Like, looooove it. I insist we go there every time we visit CB {and it's nothing new to Tyler, since he grew up there}. Anyways, beach rant over, we've been bringing lots of things home lately that will leave me with projects for daaays, so hang with me. I've just got some before pics to show you, and will slowly show the afters as I figure out and finish them!

{everything soon to be repurposed/reused}

{i am curious about THIS. not sure what it is, but they had lots of these pieces and it screams headboard to me. Almost done with this redo and will share soon!}

Last weekend was busy for us too. I'm not going to show pictures yet, but lets just say instead of cleaning our garage, we may have added up to 3 new {old} pieces of furniture. Oops.

Happy almost hump day!

summer is here!

The weather has finally been nice here so we have been taking advantage of it and getting outside as much as we can!

{my excuse for not posting recently}

Since it has been nice, there have been more and more garage sales happening. That means so many opportunities for finding fun (and cheap) treasures! Anyways, I drove by a garage sale yesterday on the way to my parents house and noticed they had some nice looking furniture out front. I didn't stop, but returned after picking some snap peas (yummm) at my parents. I'm so glad I did! First thing I saw when I walked up was a little end table, with a nice little price tag! There was also a beautiful dresser but it wasn't priced as low, and I couldn't justify it even if I could have talked them down a bit. I immediately took the pricetag off the table and continued to look around the sale. I found two more great, old, mirrors, both of which I took home and worked on right away {one of which I'll show you below} :) I also got to work on the side table and have before and after pictures for you!

{Well, I lied. I don't have complete before pictures, I had started taping the mirror off then remembered, and already primed the side table before thinking to take a pic!}

who is that shirtless hunk ;)

And the after...

{I primed and then painted the mirror with chalkboard paint. I've made some chalkboards for friends, but this is the first one I'm keeping!}

Here is the little side table {already primed, oops!}

And the after...

{Painted in my fav, RustOleum's Heirloom White, and distressed a bit.}

Look at my little helper who snuck in as I was taking pictures :)

I'll share the other mirror, and our FIVE DOLLAR door later this week. Happy Summer!

tuesday monday {or monday tuesday?}

I spent almost all of yesterday thinking it was the 31st. That was a shocker when I figured out it wasn't, in fact, the last day of May.

But anyways, she's done!!

Just a reminder of what she looked like when I brought her home {frog tape added by me, to hold together the legs as the glue dried}.

And here she is in all her glory:

Ms. Fancy Feet herself.

I am in love.

{the facts: I sanded the top down entirely, and gave the rest of it a quick sand so the primer could grab on. Then I stained it in Minwax Dark Walnut (1x), let that dry, taped the top off, and primed the bottom. I let that dry and gave it a light sanding, then covered her with my fav, RustOleum's Heirloom White. When everything was dried, I topped the stain off using Minwax Wipe-On Poly(2x).}

In loooove I tell ya!
{Tyler loves her too}

Happy tuesday monday. Tomorrow is June 1st (already)!

brown?

I worked on miss fancy feet today! Sadly, she's not photo ready yet, but check back soon for her before and after pics! :)

On another note, {since I can't concentrate on only oneproject at a time} we have been discussing our master bedroom lately. It's pretty {REALLY} blah. This is how it goes, I throw out a color scheme for the room, Tyler vetoes it (juuust kidding)....ohh the life of new homeowners. Anyways, he threw out the idea of brown {eek!} walls and I started to think about it, and started checkin' out the blogosphere.

I like what I see..

So, this is what we are thinking:

{via here, here, here, here and here}

Who knows when we will get around to all of this, but either way, I'm excited!!

I hope you all have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

I have to give a shout out to my fam in San Diego, I wish I could be at Lizfest! Sending my love to you all and remembering her this weekend.

fancy feet

After reading my daily blogs today, I was feeling crafty, so I headed to the good ol' dollar store and then to St. Vinnies to see what I could find.

I didn't find much at the dollar store, but I feel like I hit the jackpot at St. Vinnies! Look at these fancy feet!

While this table looks horrible, I can see so much potential!
It is a lovely shade of gold on the top, and a blue/white antiqued color on the rest. It was very wobbly, but I already fixed that! Just a little Gorilla wood glue (and frog tape to hold it tight, haha), and she is as good as new!

I plan on sanding down and staining the top, and painting the rest in my fav, RustOleum's Heirloom White!

I'll show pictures when I finish her.

Now, here are some other treasures I have found recently {by the way, nothing in this post cost more than $10!!}

Bird cage-thingy? And old silver platter.

Another sweet find. This little side table was at one of my favorite antique stores, and on sale, at that!

This jar - I have been eyeing similar ones at St. Vinnies but they are usually too expensive. Today, it was 1/2 off, so it came home with me!

I did find something at the dollar store, these random doo-dads {hehe}. Two bag fulls = $2!

Hope you are all having a thrifty weekend!

it's mine! alll mine!

Two exciting things happened this past weekend:

{1} I BOUGHT THE LAMPSHADE!

and,

{2} We finished painting!

Here are some photos to ease your curiosity:

{is it wrong to be in love with a lampshade?}

{the BEFORE}

{the AFTER!}

the details: we primed the whole wall (wood included) with Kilz Clean Start Zero-VOC Primer, painted the upper part in Behr Spring Hill {eggshell}, and the wood on the bottom is painted in Behr Ultra White {semi gloss}.

Want to know a secret? I HATED the green the morning after we painted it. Once we finished it all though, I realized that I love it.
It's like when you get a new hairstyle or color, it just takes a while to get used to :)

Next up I'll be showing my current dilemma, what to put on that GIANT wall around the TV.

Thanks for stoppin' by!
